We talk to Sherelle Sehangera, Business Development Director, where she highlights her aims to further support our clients by capitalising on fresh ideas, further learning, and digital transformation.

What is your banking specialism?

As Business Development Director, I undertake strategic planning and execution of initiatives to drive business growth and expand the bank’s client base. Client relationship management, market research, collaboration, marketing, and event planning are all parts of my role.

 

What trends and/or challenges are you seeing in the market?

An important and growing topic in the market is digital transformation. The rise of digital technology, such as smartphone apps and machine learning, is significantly impacting the private banking industry. For Arbuthnot Latham, it is about striking the right balance between providing all the convenience and ease of modern digital solutions with the reassurance and personalisation of a high-quality face-to-face service. We aim to give our clients the best of both worlds.

 

If you could highlight one of Arbuthnot Latham’s USPs, what would it be?

The people. We still believe in relationships and getting to know our clients and their long-term financial objectives. So, if you have a question, you can pick up a phone and call your dedicated private banker or client manager, and we will figure it out together. We want to be there for your financial journey.

Other factors that attracted me to the bank are its heritage and reputation, along with the ongoing commitment to deliver a personalised service, strong wealth management expertise and a client-centric approach.

 

What are your goals for 2024?

I plan to spend more time with my clients and build even stronger relationships. Events are an important client engagement channel at Arbuthnot Latham, so I am excited to create more client events, educational seminars, and networking opportunities. We will be continuing the AL Club, our female-focused group for clients, prospects, and business introducers aimed at developing professional and personal growth. I will also be focusing on supporting our tech banking sector and hosting our tech dinner series. Lastly, I do wish to further my knowledge and skill set with an advanced qualification in investment advice. Continuous learning and personal development are my focus points for 2024, and this approach helps enrich my ability to help clients with their needs. Ultimately, I will continue to be a brand ambassador for Arbuthnot Latham and mentor colleagues where needed.

 

Do you have any personal or professional highlights since joining Arbuthnot Latham?

The launch of the "AL Club" has been a big highlight. We hosted a series of successful lunches followed by our signature event at Asprey Gallery in Mayfair, which was a resounding success.

 

What do you like to do outside of work?

I like to spend time with my family. I have a little boy who is five and a daughter who is turning three, so they dictate any time we have outside of work. However, I also like going to the gym.

 

Finally, what is your favourite day of the working week and why?

Monday, I like to get into the office and plan my week ahead. It sets me up for the whole week.
