Interview -
Meet the team - Sarah Prescott
We head to Manchester for our latest 'Meet the Team' profile, where we talk with Sarah Prescott, Senior Commercial Banker.
In 10 words or less, what do you do at Arbuthnot Latham to assist clients in achieving their financial goals?
I facilitate debt solutions to fund real estate investment portfolios.
How do you deliver our brand promise, ‘Helping you go further’?
I draw upon my vast experience, knowledge and network to help existing and new clients. With over 20 years’ experience working at Lloyds, Santander and Yorkshire Building Society in Manchester, I offer specialised insight into commercial banking opportunities for companies located within the region and those looking to invest in the area.
My expertise spans various real estate market sectors, including residential, commercial and student accommodation. More recently, I have increased my focus on large residential portfolios, enhancing my ability to deliver tailored solutions to meet my client’s current and future real estate investment needs.
What is your view of the real estate sector for the year ahead?
Navigating the sector proved challenging in 2023 amidst high inflation and rising interest costs. Unfortunately, increases in the UK base rate posed difficulties for many clients accustomed to prolonged periods of low rates.
Despite these challenges, the real estate market remains buoyant and will continue to thrive this year. I see opportunities for refinancing, restructuring and facilitating new investment acquisitions. The positive momentum reaffirms our commitment to expanding our real estate business.
Why did you choose to join Arbuthnot Latham?
Arbuthnot Latham represented an excellent opportunity to work at a small, successful bank with a strong reputation for traditional values. Service and a client focus are a priority at the bank, and I was particularly drawn to its ethos of always being on hand to support clients. I found this very appealing and wanted to be part of the Arbuthnot team.
What do you do to unwind?
I enjoy spending time with family and socialising with friends.
I love attending music concerts and watching sports too (I am a Liverpool FC fan working in Manchester!).
My biggest passion is travel. I love to spend time travelling with family. Last year, I was lucky enough to go to Indonesia and the Norwegian Fjords, but I still have many more places to tick off the list.
