What sets us apart and what do you enjoy the most at Arbuthnot Latham?

Arbuthnot Latham has a long heritage and reputation for the high-quality service it provides to clients. Our clients can find different banking and wealth management services under one roof, with a dedicated team of people across the bank that work collaboratively to offer the best service to them. What I cherish most at Arbuthnot Latham is the people I work with. Our positive, collaborative culture fosters a sense of respect for the work contributed, creating an environment where seeking help and support feels comfortable.

What do you like to do outside of the office?

Outside of work, I lose myself in cooking. I find cooking is the perfect way to unwind after a hectic day. Whether hosting a dinner or preparing a meal for a loved one, it's my way of caring for friends and family. Additionally, I indulge in watching movies and reading books, seeking relaxation while expanding my knowledge on specific topics. During weekends, I kickstart my day with an early morning walk and later spend time with friends.

As someone who has joined remotely, how do you envision the future of remote work in the finance and investment industry?

Beginning my career remotely for the first year-and-a-half presented its challenges, particularly in connecting with colleagues. Upon returning to the office, I recognised the importance of human interaction in our industry. Face-to-face interactions with clients allow for deeper connections and a better understanding of their requirements. Moreover, in-person engagement plays a vital role in building relationships with colleagues. Our clients choose us for our dedicated team, working closely together to achieve optimal results. Given the rapid pace of our industry, being in the office facilitates quick decision-making, idea sharing, and question-asking. While valuing the flexibility of remote work, I believe it is crucial to choose a job where you spend time with people you genuinely enjoy working with.

What strategies do you employ to ensure that your clients feel heard and understood, particularly when discussing their financial goals and concerns?

Recognising the importance of viewing situations from our clients’ perspective, I prioritise making them feel safe, understood, and acknowledged in their concerns. Open discussions are key, keeping clients informed about the steps being taken to meet their financial goals. Fostering trust, the cornerstone of the investment manager-client relationship, involves delivering value, maintaining high-quality work in a timely manner, and embracing honesty and transparency. Taking responsibility for mistakes, for instance, contributes to building trust as clients appreciate openness and accountability.
